Vastu Shastra Tips for Your Home

Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian set of building principles that guide you in the construction and design of your home. It’s also a way to make sure your home is aligned with its surroundings, so it can support you in every way possible. It’s a holistic approach to creating a space that feels good, looks good, and works well for the people who live there. Vastu Shastra has the knowledge of how to use space in a way that makes it good for living and working.

Vastu shastra for home and other spaces is one of the oldest practices in the world, dating back to the Vedic period of India. It’s based on the idea that everything in nature has its own energy, and by arranging your home or workplace in a certain way, you can harness that energy and use it to bring positive change into your life.

The practice has roots in Hinduism; however, it is also practiced by Buddhists and Jains alike. Vastu shastra is not just about architecture or interior design—it’s about aligning yourself with universal energy so that you can create an environment for success and happiness. It is becoming increasingly popular in the West, and many people are turning to Vastu shastra for advice on how to improve their home design.

Vastu Shastra is based on three basic principles:

1. Directional orientation: The direction in which something faces has an effect on health and well-being. For example, if you have a kitchen that faces north, then it will be better for you to use this kitchen only during the summer months as it will be cooler during that time. The same goes for other rooms as well.

2. Elements: There are five elements in nature – earth, water, fire, air, and ether (space). Each element has its own qualities and characteristics which affect different regions of our body and mind depending on where they are placed in the house or office space.

3. Spatial arrangement: The shape, size, and orientation of our living spaces all have an impact on our health and well-being as well as our relationships with others around us

Tips for a Vastu Shastra-compliant home:

Vastu Shastra For Bedroom

In order to help you design your bedroom in your home according to Vastu Shastra principles, here’s what you need to know:

  • It’s important to note that your bedroom should be located on the east side of your home.  Also, if your house has an open floor plan and no rooms have doors or walls separating them, then it’s also fine to place the bedroom on any side as long as it is not facing west.
  • Place your bed on the south side of the room if possible. This will allow you to get plenty of sunlight during the day when you’re resting up for another busy day. If this isn’t possible, then make sure that your bed faces east or west (but not north or south) so that you can still get plenty of light during those times when you need it most.
  • The bedroom should not be located above the garage or kitchen. It should not be in close proximity to the staircase, bathroom, kitchen, or toilet.
  • If possible, try not to have any mirrors in your bedroom because they can reflect negative energy from outside sources back into your home—especially if they face outward windows or doors (or any other entrance) which could allow negative energies into your home through these openings
  • The bed should be at least three feet away from any wall, electrical switches, and doors/windows.
  • If possible, place your bed in between two windows so that you can see both of them at once when you wake up. Also, make sure those windows face east or south so that there’s plenty of natural light coming through them during daytime hours as well!

Vastu Shastra For Kitchen

If you’re thinking about renovating or building a new kitchen in your home, it’s especially important to take these Vastu shastra guidelines into account:

  •  Keep it simple and symmetrical
  • Make sure there’s plenty of light and air in your kitchen
  • Avoid putting the sink, stovetop, or refrigerator directly in front of the door (or windows) when possible
  • Don’t put two ovens next to each other, or two sinks next to each other
  • Vastu Shastra teaches that in the kitchen, you should never place your stove or sink in the South-West corner of your home. This is because this part of the house is associated with Agni (fire), which represents energy and heat. According to Vastu Shastra, this area should only be used for storage purposes. You should also avoid placing your refrigerator in the South-West corner of your kitchen if possible because this area is associated with water, which represents wealth and prosperity.
  • If possible, try to place an open window on one side of your stove so that it does not block any doors or windows from letting in natural light during cooking time. You may also wish to consider placing a mirror directly behind where you stand when using this area so that energy can flow freely throughout all parts of your home.

Vastu Shastra For Main Door

The main door of your house is a gateway into your home, Vastu Shastra recommends the following measures to make it Vastu principles friendly:

  • First, make sure your main door faces a road or a street. You want to be able to see who’s coming and going, so you can feel more secure in your home.
  • Next, the doorway itself should be wide enough to let people pass through easily.
  • The most important thing is to make sure there is no clutter or things blocking the doorway. This includes furniture, plants, or anything else! You want this space to be clear so that energy can flow freely between inside and outside.

Vastu Shastra For Meditation and Pooja Room

  • Meditation or pooja room is a must for all Vastu Shastra homes. Follow these guidelines and you should be able to design a Vastu-compliant Pooja room!
  • The pooja room should be used for meditation and prayer only.
  • Meditation and Pooja Room should be located east of the main entrance. This is because the east direction is considered to be auspicious and good for health, wealth, and prosperity.
  • It should also be close to the kitchen and dining area. Vastu recommends this because it will help in increasing the positive energy in these areas.
  • The meditation and Pooja room should not be too big or too small. It should be spacious enough so that you can comfortably perform your daily rituals without any trouble but at the same time not so big that it becomes a hindrance while performing pooja rituals.
  • The room should have an entrance on the eastern side through which sunlight enters it during sunrise and sunset times when pooja is performed.
  • All items should be placed inside the room before sunrise time so that all these items get blessed with positive energy from sun rays during sunrise time every day.

Vastu Shastra For Living Room

The living room is the place where we spend a lot of time. It is a place to relax and also to entertain guests. So, it should be designed according to these Vastu shastra principles:

  •  The living room should be painted in red, yellow or orange color and not white or black. Yellow is the best color because it uplifts your mood and keeps you happy and active all day long.
  •  It should have a fireplace because it adds warmth to the environment and also removes bad energy from your home.
  •  The living room should not be facing North, as it will make you feel cold and sad most of the time. A good choice would be the East, South, or West direction for this room because they are good directions for happiness and prosperity in any house.
  •  If possible, try keeping plants like Tulsi (Basil) or Bamboo around your house because they are considered auspicious by Vastu Shastra experts, who believe that they bring positive energy into your home and keep away negative energies from entering your house through any corner or entrance point where they may exist at such times as well!

Vastu Shastra For Study Room

Follow these guidelines and you should be able to design a Vastu-compliant Study room in your home!

  • The location of your study room should be auspicious, which means that it should be in the east, north, or northeast of the house. The room should not be too big or too small. It should have ample space for books and other study materials, but not a lot of extra space that you don’t need.
  • The walls of your study room should be painted white or cream because these colors represent light and purity, which are positive influences on your mind. You can also use mirrors to reflect light into the room from outside windows.
  • The furniture in your study room should be minimal: one table with one chair is enough. If you have more than one table, they should be placed opposite each other so that they form an “X” shape when viewed from above. This will help keep negative energy away from you as you work on studying or doing homework. You’ll want to keep all drawers closed while you’re working so that no negative energy gets trapped inside them either!
  • You might also want to consider putting up a picture of someone who inspires.

Vastu Shastra for Dining Room

  • The dining Room in your home should follow these Vastu shastra principles
  •  Keep the dining room away from the kitchen. The kitchen should be located on the right side of the house, while the dining room should be on the left side.
  •  Place your dining table in front of a window that has a view of trees or a garden.
  •  Avoid having doors in front of your dining table, as they block positive energy flow. Instead, use curtains or dividers to separate your dining area from other rooms in your home.
  •  Arrange furniture pieces so that they face each other at an angle instead of directly across from one another—this will create more space for positive energy flow between occupants

Vastu Shastra for Toilet and Bathroom

  • Vastu Shastra for the bathroom is important in the design of your home. Follow these guidelines and you should be able to design a Vastu-compliant bathroom in your home!
  • You want to make sure that water flows through your bathroom in a certain way, so it can be used to cleanse you and purify your body. This is why the toilet should be placed towards the northeast corner of your bathroom—this is where the air blows in from outside, so it will push away any negative energies.
  • The sink should be placed in front of the mirror and opposite from where you enter the bathroom (so if you enter from the left side, place it on the right). The shower should also be placed opposite where you enter (again, if you enter from the left side, place it on right).

Doors and windows facing direction

Doors and windows are the most important aspect of any home. They are also one of the most important parts of Vastu shastra.

  • It is believed that doors and windows should be facing in the direction of sunrise and sunset, so as to bring prosperity and happiness into your house.
  • If this is not possible, you can install a window on each side of your bedroom so that you get enough light during the day.

Direction of staircase

The staircase is an important part of any house. It connects different floors and rooms, which makes it a significant part of the Vastu shastra principles.

Here are some tips to help you create a staircase that will serve you well for years to come:

  • Consider the direction of your staircase carefully. This direction is said to help maintain balance and harmony in the home. If you have an open floor plan, consider using a central staircase that runs up one side of your home and down another—this way, you’ll have symmetry in both directions!
  • Use wood as much as possible in your design—it’s not only beautiful but also carries positive energy into your home each time someone walks up or down it. If you do use metal or other materials, make sure they’re made out of stainless steel (which has no negative effects on its surroundings)

Basement as per Vastu shastra for home plan

A basement is a space that is often ignored in a home, but it can be used to add value to your property. It can also help you achieve the desired results by using the Vastu shastra principles.

  • The location of your basement can influence the type of energy you receive from the surrounding environment.
  • If your basement is located in an area that receives negative energy, then it will create problems for you and your family. To avoid this, make sure that your basement is not located under any areas that receive negative energy such as ponds or water bodies. It should also not be located in front of any main doors or windows of your house.
  • The height of your basement should be equal to half the height of your house. If it does not have equal height, then it will create problems for you and others living in your house. Make sure that there are no objects blocking its natural flow of air so that it doesn’t get blocked by any physical object like trees or bushes near it!
  • Basements are usually dark places due to a lack of natural light; therefore they should be illuminated with artificial lighting during daytime as well as at night time so that everything looks bright and cheerful! You can use natural sunlight if possible but make sure that no shadows fall.

Vastu Shastra is the study of construction science and emphasizes the importance of the layout and design of a house. Living in a properly designed home or office will automatically be good for health and positive energy.

Follow the guidelines given above and you should be able to design a Vastu-compliant home!
