In this guide, I’ll share my simple and quick method for achieving perfectly boiled potatoes every time, thanks to the convenience and efficiency of the Instant Pot.

Step by Step Instructions  for Instant Pot Boiled Whole Potatoes:

1. Select Potatoes:  Choose potatoes of similar size to ensure even cooking. You can use any variety of potatoes.
2.  Clean Potatoes: Rinse the potatoes under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris. Use a scrub brush if needed to gently clean the skin.
3. Prepare Instant Pot: Place the stainless steel inner pot inside the Instant Pot base. Add one cup of water to the pot.
4. Insert Trivet: Insert the trivet or a steamer basket into the Instant Pot. This will keep the potatoes elevated above the water.
5. Add Potatoes: Place the whole potatoes on the trivet or in the steamer basket. Arrange them in a single layer and ensure they are not overcrowded.
6. Seal Instant Pot: Close the Instant Pot lid and set the steam release valve to the sealing position.
7. Cook Potatoes: Set the Instant Pot to cook on high pressure. For whole potatoes, cook them for about 12-15 minutes depending on their size. Use the Manual/Pressure Cook setting and adjust the time accordingly.
8. Natural Release or Quick Release: Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to release naturally for about 5-10 minutes. Then, carefully perform a quick release by turning the steam release valve to the venting position.
9. Check Potatoes:  Open the Instant Pot lid carefully once the pressure has fully released. Test the potatoes for doneness by inserting a fork or knife into the center. They should be tender and easily pierced.Instant pot boiled potatoes

10.  Remove Potatoes:  Using kitchen tongs or a slotted spoon, carefully remove the potatoes from the Instant Pot. Place them on a plate or cutting board to cool slightly before using them in your recipe or serving them.
