Today it is a hidden gem open to public with gorgeous floral gardens, edible gardens, a lovely garden store where they sell everything that fits a nostalgic’s dream to live in the time of Filoli’s heyday with the wealth to manage the dream. This is a beautiful escape for one reading a book and out for a hike or for the family. Perhaps too tempting for toddlers to stay on the path and off the grass, so if you have one, tote a stroller. There is a cafe on the grounds with good food, but not cheap. Picnicking isn’t allowed. Entrance is a bit steep at $20 per adult so try to spend the day to soak it all in for your money’s worth.Great Christmas events and if you can get tickets to the summer jazz weekend events, you can’t go wrong. We had a wonderful docent that did a fantastic job, and definitely had a love for the home and the families that lived there. The furniture in the house is actually almost all the original furniture, but the home was empty when they received it. Ask how they got almost all the original furniture back that belonged to the original family that lived in the home! You will really enjoy yourself! You can also have lunch there before you head out on your tour of the home and grounds, and the lunch food is wonderful!
