This review is for the Over Night Sleep Over on 2/18/2017. Did you know you can sleep at the Natural History Museum? I sure didn’t. My son’s cub scout troop had an outing for a sleep over at a museum. When I saw that, I signed us up pronto. What a wonderful experience! Okay, we had to drive in one of the heaviest rain fall day/night of my life from Yorba Linda to Los Angeles (that’s over 30 miles in traffic) Almost 2 hours Yikes! We barely made it to the cut off time (8 pm). With me and my son running in the rain, holding my son in one hand (and his Happy Meal), a backpack, two sleeping bag and an umbrella in the other hand. That was our wonderful adventure before we got to the entrance. hahaha. Once we were in, it was smooth sailing through the night and the next day. They have this down pat. Check in was a breeze. They had activities for the kids (art works) and a scavenger hunt for the whole family. I like trivia, so that scavenger hunt was really fun. You had to read the info on each of artifact to solve the questions on the scavenger hunt list. It was enjoyable not only to me, but to everyone else in our group. Sleeping arrangement: We were ushered in to the North American Mammals Hall. It’s a huge hall. We got to pick where we wanted to set up our sleeping bags. We choose the middle section, right by this giant moose. Air beds were allowed, Electrical outlets were readily available to everyone. The bathrooms were clean. We used the family bathroom which was really a great help to families with kids. We were able to roam around certain areas of the museum (first floor only) until lights out (10 pm). Lights on was at 7 am the next morning. We had 2 hours to clear out, which was plenty of time. We got bracelets for entry into the museum in the morning which opens at 9:30 am. So during the mean time, our cub scout troop went to the NHM Grill downstairs and ate breakfast until the museum opened. The museum itself was amazing. The dinosaur fossils was a hit for all the kids (adults as well). They have so many artifacts here that it’s a good way to spend the day for sure. Most of the bones are not the actually bones (probably only one portion of of the dinosaur was found and they reconstructed the whole thing). I think there was one with a penis on it too lol! The employees are helpful if you have any questions and some are pretty knowledgeable if you have more detailed questions. I like how they keep the place clean and are updating the rooms. The mammals exhibit was one of my favs too. The animals look so life like. Reminds me of the movie Night at the Museum. I don’t really recommend food in museums because they’re usually not that good and overpriced but I guess it’s going to a good cause for the upkeep.”}]
