Many of the buildings within the park were built for California expos in the early twentieth century, and are now protected as prime examples of architecture from that period. A must see park that includes museums, the Japanese Friendship Garden, a world famous Organ Pavilion, Botanic Gardens to awe your senses, the fabulous Prado restaurant (make a reservation) and of course the World Famous San Diego Zoo.There is so much to see and you don’t have to spend money. There are gardens and buildings fountains and museums.Larger than Central Park in NY…spend a day in the museums, gardens, aviary.etc..Balboa Park is large with several museums & gardens. You can definitely spend an entire day exploring all the things the park has to offer. If you’re a dog owner it’s the perfect place to bring fide for a walk and to play fetch.Great location to explore museums and such. Warm, lively atmosphere. Cultural and family friendly.What a beautiful park to just have a great morning run at. The trees bloom beautiful and the park is well manicured.One of America’s great urban parks. Great place for a picnic. And if you are a museum lover, you should plan several days of museum visits.Amazing for families, tourists or just a quick relaxing afternoon for a busy business traveler. Museums, shops, art exhibits, zoo and plenty of restaurants and shops near by. Overlooking downtown and Coronado island. Simply beautiful! Can take a full day or just return for shorters trips . . . you’ll want to for sure. The museums, the street performers, the theaters, the Ruben H Fleet Science Ctr featuring permanent installations including illusions, block structures, exploring aging, and the human body. Plus the massive overhead spherical IMAX screen with changing shows each few weeks. And . . . the breeze!!! Some of my personal favorites are the Air and Space Museum, Reuben H Fleet Science center (with great Imax science movies) and the Art museum. There are many more to see and a great place to walk around.Take your pick for a favorite museum, my favorite is the Photography Museum or the Museum of Art. There are also great restaurants to enjoy. You can spend a full day walking around this beautiful park. Fabulous experience. Visit the Rueben H. Fleet Aeronautical Museum, the Space and Science Center, the Museum of Man, the Old Globe Theater, etcBalboa Park is home to many of San Diego’s great museums, numerous gardens, dog parks, outdoor activities, etc. There seems to be something hosted here each weekend. This park is fantastic and quite big. It includes a beautiful greenhouse full of amazing trees and plants of a wide variety. The coolest part about that park is that you can go around it by bicycle and enjoy it even more. There are so many things that his park offers. One of my favorite parts inside it were the fountains filled with Red Chinese style fish (I don’t remember the name of the fish), as well as the museum and the amazing Japanese-style garden. It’s well taken care of, with a Spanish colonial style architecture. I fully recommend it to everyone who loves the outdoors.This is a great way to spend a day. Balboa Park has something for everyone.
